The storm of two nights ago over, the day dawns relatively warm, sunny and dry.
Emma B is leading the sewing party in patching the full length tear in the Spanker on the main deck. It takes a team of helpers to feed the prepared cloth through the industrial sewing machine lashed to the deck. Too big to hand sew, it is tamed under Emma’s expert eye.
The watches are back to hand steering and standing lookout on the foredeck but the engine is still running. By afternoon the light breeze has gone aft, the engines are silenced and the square sails set. We are back on course for South Georgia at last, the discomfort of a F9 behind us.
