Anchored in Tadoullac Bay

Sunday we had a grand parade of Sail on the Saint Lawrence river leaving
the beautiful and hospitable old City of Quebec behind us.

After seeing so many people on our decks the last couple of days it felt
great to anchor around midnight in the quietness of Tadoussac bay in the
entrance of the Saguenay Fjord. In the early morning light of the Monday
we saw the sparkling white bodies of the Beluga whales all around us, as
if they were not an endangered species. The black Minky whales swimming
in between them, made them even look more virgin in these waters that
were not touched by any wind.
After breakfast our zodiac's brought the voyage crew ashore, were they
visited the old little city of Tadoussac, but maybe even more important,
the whale museum that is situated on this rocky shores.
This museum is standing out because it is also the research center for
the many different species of whales that show up every summer in this
part of the Saint Lawrence river. So all the questions that you have
about whales can be answered professionally by the researchers.

At lunchtime everybody is back on board and we make a little swing in
the Saguanay fjord before we carry on steaming down river and dropping
the 2 pilots in the end of the afternoon in Les Escoumins.
Still completely windless and the waters we sail in are only rippled by
the strong currents that make this area such a rich dish for all the
porpoises, dolphins and whales around us.

We leave the good sailing for the coming days and enjoy these
outstanding weather conditions.

Alles wel
Klaas
