After the tacking and changing course for a couple of days, the last 24 hours we sailed in a Easterly direction. Only the speed has been varying a bit. From close hauled and following the wind to bracing for beam reach, bracing for broad reach and eventually now downwind sailing. The wind is supposed to veer over night and pick up to a good 30 knots. Let's see, at least we are prepared.

Today after lunch we held an abandon ship drill. During the last weeks we already did practise in the watches with donning an immersion suit. Now we practised bringing the bags with life jackets en immersion suits up on deck, muster and then another explanation on what to do once out on deck. At the same time Clara and Cri did the monthly check on the bags. After all was clear and done, the bags could be brought back to the cabins and mounted in their position.

Before coffee Moritz held his second lecture on basic navigation. This time not only explaining the theory, but also practise at charts. It was asked to draw a route from point to point following some given guidelines. That went quite ok. Although some people learned that when you put a route in you have to monitor that 3.2 shallows are not suitable for Europa to sail over.
